What Is a Lash Lift?

During the process, your technician will take your upper lashes and glue them (using a very gentle non-toxic adhesive) to a silicone mold that will hold them in place. A solution is then applied which will harden and set your lashes, keeping them in the semi-permanent curled state.

Curling your eyelashes makes them look longer and darker, accentuating your eyes and seriously enhancing the effects of mascara. People often also add a lash tint to make their new look even more glamorous.

What Is a Lash Tint?

A lash tint is a treatment where semi-permanent dye is carefully applied to your curled eyelashes, using a shield so that the dye won’t touch your skin. It is then left on for around ten minutes before being washed off. 

The result is thicker and darker eyelashes that look like they have perfectly-applied mascara. When used in tandem with a lash lift, you end up with dramatically different-looking eyelashes that are more vibrant and voluminous. 

How Long Does It Last?

The results of most lash lifts can last as long as eight to twelve weeks, although this also depends on your hair growth cycle. Lash tints last half that time, which is about four to six weeks.

If you want to maintain the lash lift and tint combo consistently, you may want to get them tinted a second time, halfway through the duration of your lash lift.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

The ideal candidate for a lash lift and tint are people with naturally long and straight eyelashes. It’s also an excellent treatment for people who put on makeup every day, as it saves you from having to apply even more makeup as part of your daily routine.

Although people with curlier or shorter eyelashes are definitely eligible for this treatment, it should be known that a lash lift will likely shorten the appearance of your eyelashes, since they are being curled inward and upward.

Neither treatments are recommended if you have had any other eyelash treatments or procedures in the month leading up to a lash lift and/or tint session.

Is It Safe?

Both lash lifts and tints are safe procedures, and neither will do any damage to your natural lashes. Some people have experienced redness or irritation of the skin around the eyes, but this is minor and should subside within a few hours of treatment.
